Luxury Dining, Florida Style
Challenge
Neiman Marcus wanted to add one of its famed Mariposa Restaurants to the upper level of its two-story store in Boca Raton's Town Center Mall, the largest indoor shopping mall in Palm Beach County, Florida, and South Florida's main destination for distinctive luxury shopping. Our design would need to blend harmoniously into the store's ambiance of Floridian comfort and style, often referred to as "laid-back luxe."
SOLUTION
With high ceilings and open sightlines, we gave this restaurant a gallery feel, following Neiman Marcus' signature penchant for art collecting. Thus the 3,600-square-foot restaurant and bar became a seamless part of the 136,000-square-foot retail space.
Ample white space helps to highlight art, color, and texture. A custom table runner suggests grasslands from the subtropical savanna, and a long, hand-blown glass frieze evokes wind moving through the grasses. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow for natural light, affording views of the native banyan trees just outside. A Florida-style lanai terrace serves as a private dining room.
